Just a word before you listen: the excitement in this album is contagious! It’s the inevitable excitement CELLS whip up to gale force everywhere they appear. And it’s all here in these modest mini CDs, because this is a faithful live recording of a real CELLS concert.
Except it’s not. With drummer Dan G fleeing to the foothills of the Himalayas, the remaining cells had to reconstitute into something else, something altogether NOT CELLS.
The crowd began arriving three hours before the show. One hour later, literally one fans were lined up around the block waiting to pack the auditorium. Would this cell-splicing version of the band deliver or had they taken their project-hopping too far? Would we witness the next evolution of rock music or a Frankenstein’s monster of mediocrity? The trepidation was palpable as the boys took the stage.
From the first electric moment of their fast-paced show, CELLS commanded a stage full of showmanship and a program of wonderful songs worth every minute of the wait, generating a very special warm rapport with the audience that had fan reacting to their every gesture and inflection.
For the convenience of the modern home listener, who is so very easily confused, songs by CELLS and NOTCELLS have been presented on separate discs to enhance your enjoyment and have you mildly cheering just like that audience!
